Forest Management Major Groups

DESA’s United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) with the main objective to promote the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and to strengthen long-term political commitment to this end. Following intense negotiations, the Seventh Session of the Forum adopted the landmark Non-Legally Binding Instrument on All Types of Forests on 28 April 2007. The instrument is considered a milestone, as it is the first time Member States have agreed to an international instrument for sustainable forest management.

UNFF is open to all States and operates in a transparent manner. The participation of a wide range of forest-related stakeholders in the Sessions of the Forum is considered a key component of sustainable management of forests and welcomes participants from the Forest Major Groups.

The first column lists all organizations that are affiliated to one or more Forest Major Groups.

The second column displays the participation of organizations to the sessions of the United Nations Forum on Forests.
