Public Administration and Development Management

DESA's division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) is entrusted by the General Assembly to implement the United Nations Programme in Public Administration and Development, and serves as a coordinating entity in this area. DPADM aims to assist Member States in ensuring that their governance systems, administrative and financial institutions, human resources and policy development processes function in an effective and participatory manner by fostering dialogue, promoting and sharing information and knowledge, and providing technical and advisory services.

The Division works in partnership with relevant United Nations departments and agencies and with other intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. The Division?s comparative advantage lies in its ability to identify and respond to emerging global trends and challenges, such as information technology and knowledge management, while continuously maintaining a strong substantive presence in traditional areas of public administration, governance, policy analysis, public economics, public finance and private sector development.
