1. What is a quadrennial report?
In order to monitor the progress made by NGOs in consultative status to the work of ECOSOC, NGOs are required to submit a report to the NGO Branch every four years. The report should include a brief description of the organization¿s activities, their contribution to the work of the United Nations, including the Millennium Development Goals and other internationally agreed commitments. The report must be completed in one of the working languages of the United Nations - English or French. Published on 2 Aug 2010 [

2. Submitting quadrennial reports
The organization should submit a quadrennial report if the following 2 conditions are met:
1) The organizations has General or Special consultative status with ECOSOC
2) 4 years passed since its previous report

3. Consequences for nonsubmission of quadrennial reports
Submitting quadrennial reports is one of the main responsibilities of organizations in General or Special consultative status with ECOSOC. ECOSOC Resolution 2008/4 stresses this responsibility and outlines that a failure to timely submit a quadrennial report will lead to suspension and ultimately a permanent withdrawal of consultative status for the organization.
