Request to be heard at the 2016 ECOSOC High-Level Segment

The Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs is pleased to announce an open call for oral and written statements for the 2016 ECOSOC High Level Segment (HLS) for NGOs in ECOSOC consultative status.

The theme for the 2016 session of the Economic and Social Council is ôImplementing the post-2015 development agenda: moving from commitments to resultsö.

The HLS will include the three-day ministerial meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF), convened under the auspices of the Council; the high-level policy dialogue with international financial and trade institutions; the biennial Development Cooperation Forum; and the thematic discussion on ôInfrastructure for sustainable development for allö. The theme of the 2016 HLPF, ôEnsuring that no one is left behindö, will provide an opportunity to focus on the goals and policy choices that will benefit the poorest and most vulnerable among us.

NGOs in general and special consultative are encouraged to submit a brief summary of an oral statement to be heard at the 2016 ECOSOC High-Level Segment. Please note that due to the high volume of organizations requesting to speak at the event, we are unable to guarantee your participation. The President of ECOSOC will decide on the final list of speakers. The request should be submitted online at CSONet by using your organizationĺs username and password.

Oral statements are limited to less than five minutes.

If you wish to request to be heard by the Council, please click on the button "Fill out Form". Please note that this is only a request to speak and not the submission of the oral presentation itself. If you wish to submit a written statement, please click here.

The deadline for submitting oral statements is 15 April 2016.
