General Assembly, UNHQ New York
24 - 25 September, 2010
The high-level review meeting will provide the international community with an opportunity to conduct a thorough assessment of the progress made, lessons learned and constraints encountered in the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation and agree on what needs to be done to further address the vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States. The high-level review meeting will take place during 24 - 25 September, 2010.
The first step in the review process was the preparation of National Assessment Reports (NARs) by SIDS. The NARs, together with inputs from donor States, UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations and major groups, were synthesized into three regional reports for the Pacific, AIMS and Caribbean regions. Finalized regional synthesis reports will be integrated into a global synthesis document, which will be presented at the inter-regional review meeting in New York. Outcomes of the national, regional and inter-regional levels of the review process will be submitted as inputs to the high-level review meeting.
The Secretary-General's Report, "Five-year review of the Mauritius Strategy for the Further Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States" [Arabic | Chinese | English | French | Russian | Spanish] provides a global synthesis of the preparatory national and regional five-year reviews of the Mauritius Strategy, for consideration by member States.
