NGOs with consultative status have the option of organizing a side event in conjunction with a main event organized by ECOSOC or its subsidiary bodies. If you would like to organize a side event, you must directly contact the organizers of the particular event in the respective ECOSOC functional commission and discuss your proposal with them.

For example, in June 2010, during ECOSOC substantive session the World Family Organization (WFO), the NGO with ECOSOC general consultative status from1948, in collaboration with the NGO Branch of DESA, hosted a side event ¿Implementing the internationally agreed goals and commitments in regard to gender equality and empowerment of women¿ to present the Istanbul Declaration from the World Family Summit +5.
