Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) Inter-sessional panel meeting

The panel will address follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), including modalities of preparation for the 13th session of the CSTD.

It will examine the following two priority themes:

Theme I, which is related to the Commission´s mandate to assist the Economic and Social Council in the follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS):
Improvements and innovations in existing financial mechanisms

Theme II, which is related to the Commission´s traditional mandate on science and technology:
New and emerging technologies, this panel will focus primarily on energy technologies, especially from green and renewable sources.

Findings and recommendations of the panel will be considered at the thirteenth session of the CSTD, to be held in May 2010.
