To: The United Nations Commission for Human Rights (UNCHR)
Southern African Development Community (SADC)
Sustainable Rural Community Organisation (SURCOD) is a grassroots NGO in Malawi which is very concerned with the xenophobic attacks which are currently taking place in the Republic of South Africa. We are writing to condemn the barbaric behaviour which some people in South Africa are showing by harassing as well as killing foreigners living in South Africa.
SURCOD, being an organisation which observes human rights at all costs, is summoning the United Nations Commission for Human Rights (UNCHR) as it is expected to uphold and protect the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In addition, we are requesting the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to strike out the country from its membership as it violates the Charter of the Fundamental Social Rights in SADC, which was signed on 2003 August 1st, in Namibia.
We would like to request the UNHCR to establish a special commission to investigate the matter and come up with a report which would assist in the establishment of a case whereby the president of South Africa should be answering for failing to protect people from other countries.
SURCOD would also like to request the world to boycott the buying of products made from the Republic of South Africa as a commitment to promote human rights as well as showing our anger against the barbaric attacks against innocent foreigners (xenophobia).
Finally, we are asking the world to occupy all of the Republic of South Africa's embassies to show our solidarity against this.
