On behalf of Cancer Aid Society I wish to propose the Declaration of "NCD Awareness Day" on December 8th every year to be observed globally so as to integrate the efforts of of the various organisations working for prevention and control of various Non Communicable Diseases.

Cancer Aid Society, being a party to the High Level Meeting of 19th September 2011 for the control of NCDs at the UNGA wants to keep up the spirit to integrate the fight against various NCDs so as to get the maximum thrust globally. We have already started celebrating NCD Awareness Day on 8th of December every year mobilizing thousands of volunteers and generating awareness among Lacs of people across India.

I would request you to kindly entertain the proposal in the coming Meeting.

Cancer Aid Society is having Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC and the only NGO of India working countrywide on prevention of Cancer, Tobacco and NCDs among the children and community since 1987.
We had also been Member of various Govt. and other committees however still we could not get appointment with the Representatives of WHO India/ SEARO. In such a scenario lack of coordination and cooperation of NGOs in battle against NCDs will defeat the purpose.
Effective measures are requested in line with the High Level Meeting on NCD of 2011 where Cancer Aid Society also participated and subsequent Political Declaration.
