Mission statement:
Year established (YYYY): 1986
Year of registration (YYYY): 1986
Organizational structure: Our diverse membership provides the strength and expertise that both drives and executes our programme activities. APWLD is governed by a Programme and Management Committee comprised from a larger Regional Council of active members. Our Secretariat in Chiangmai carries out day to day operations and provides for programme implementation as well as financial and technical support.
Number and type of members: We have 200 organisational and individual members across 26 countries in Asia-Pacific. Approximately 60% of our members are organisational and 40% individual. Member organisations represent a diverse segment of women across legal, activist and academic arenas. This includes, but is not limited to; LGBTI women, indigenous women, migrant women, rural women, refugee women, women with disabilities, domestic workers, young women, past, present and aspiring parliamentarians, and CEDAW Committee members. Affiliations: APWLD is affiliated with several international and regional NGO networks. We co-convene the Southeast Asia Women’s Caucus on ASEAN (Regional); sit on the executive of the Women Human Rights Defender’s Coalition (International); and co-facilitate the United for Foreign Domestic Workers Rights Coalition (Regional). We are on several steering bodies which include the Asian Rural Women’s Coalition and Asian Consortium. APWLD is a member of the Global Facilitation Group of Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness and a member of the Better Aid Coordinating Group.
