Mission statement:	AKUAIPA WAIMAKAT Association is a nonprofit organization designed to disseminate, promote and defend all aspects related to the theme of human and indigenous rights of indigenous peoples of the peninsula of La Guajira and the Colombian Caribbean. Its framework of action will focus primarily on promoting, strengthening and Defense of Human Rights and Fundamental Rights of Indigenous Peoples, strengthening the Special Court Wayuu; the care of vulnerable groups and legal attention to persons whose human rights and Indigenous development of Development Cooperation Projects and Training aimed at communities at risk, strengthening Indigenous Organizations Technical Consulting and Project Development Indigenous Defending the Rights of the Child, youth and indigenous women; Project Development Social Impact marginalized communities, strengthening the indigenous presence in the various international human rights protection, development of action focuses on access of Indigenous Peoples to the new technologies, the process improvement Indigenous Health; loa promotion of intercultural and development of education itself Peoples and Cultures, the development of actions focused on the Elimination of Contemporary Forms of Slavery Development training process for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and the protection of Traditional Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples. AKUAIPA WAIMAKAT runs specific activities and projects with indigenous peoples and vulnerable populations in La Guajira, Colombia, in order to defend and promote their human and fundamental rights. Its areas of activity and contributions that could be of interest to the OAS include: • Promotion of the human rights of indigenous peoples and vulnerable populations through training, documentation, and awareness programs for young people, women, local leaders, and the public at large, on the situation of indigenous peoples in Colombia and worldwide and on international human rights protection systems (UN, OAS); • Impact on the design of public policies related to indigenous settlements, justice, and reparations for victims of paramilitary groups and indigenous peoples' rights, through advisory services to municipal governments, preparation of working papers on the application of domestic laws, and participation in international meetings of United Nations and the Organization of American States; • Holding forums, training sessions, and training programs on project management and humanitarian assistance, for indigenous organizations; and • Implementation of projects on finding alternative employment and on productivity as well as promoting awareness of indigenous heritage and traditional practices AKUAIPA WAIMAKAT would like to support the OAS / Organization of American States, in the following areas: • Making recommendations to the Working Group to Prepare the Draft American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs (CAJP); • Making recommendations to the Working Group to Prepare a Draft Inter-American Convention against Racism and All Forms of Discrimination and Intolerance, of the OAS Permanent Council's Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs (CAJP); • Providing information on the situation of indigenous peoples in Colombia to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; • Collaborating with the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) and the Inter-American Children's Institute (IIN) on issues related to strengthening the participation of women, children, and youth in the social, cultural, political, and economic development of indigenous peoples in the region; and • Cooperating with the Department of Human Development, Education, and Culture of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) in implementing their programs to preserve and protect cultural heritage in the region

Organizational structure:	The organization AKUAIPA WAIMAKAT currently includes 450 active members (the vast majority of indigenous professionals, and 45% made up of indigenous women), and has developed important projects promoting human rights and protection of vulnerable populations in territories and Wayuu indigenous communities Colombia. In their work computers are linked 13 indigenous professionals, 10 traditional authorities and 5 indigenous leaders working at headquarters, located in Manaure, La Guajira, Colombia, indigenous students collaborate past 12 periods of school and college, as donors and volunteers. The following is the structure of the organization: The Association has 450 members, which is conditional on the following management structure: ¿ The General Assembly of Members, which sets the annual work plan, and ¿ The Board of Directors (in charge of the administrative processes of the association): Composed of ¿ The legal representative, ¿ General Coordinator, ¿ The Human Rights Coordinator, ¿ Project Coordinator of Women and Gender Equity, and ¿ The Youth Coordinator; Operational structure: The Board is the body responsible for legal representation and management of ongoing projects of the partnership has the capacity to contract and in accordance with national rules, you can set financial audit projects. Additionally, you can create groups of temporary or permanent development of certain human rights projects. Every 12 months, produces a report of activities put forward for consideration of the active members of the General Assembly Mission of the Organization. Promote activities and processes oriented access to their own forms of indigenous development grounded in the protection and defense of human rights and indigenous, it includes: preservation of ancestral wisdom, sacred sites, the stories of communities, the language and territory Indians, too, propose strategies to generate intercultural regional and local public policies, effective in addressing indigenous issues and respectful of local autonomy. To promote the knowledge and application of human rights from an indigenous perspective and work for the defense of indigenous identity from working community spaces (informal, social and ritual) that tend to strengthen comprehensive cultural and women, children and young people. Through traditional consultation processes, the association of human and indigenous rights AKUAIPA Waimakat aims for the development of projects that help preserve indigenous cultural heritage: the sacred sites of origin, cemeteries, the ancient wisdom of the elders and indigenous languages.
