Mission statement:	The International Centre of the Roerichs was founded in Moscow in 1989 by the initiative of Svetoslav Roerich, son of the renowned artist, scholar and public figure Nicholas Roerich who made an important contribution to the forming of the international legal system for cultural property protection in the 20th century. Striving to establish its fundamental principles, he proposed a Treaty on the Protection of Artistic and Scientific Institutions and Historic Monuments (The Roerich Pact) that was signed in the White House in Washington in 1935 by 21 countries of South and North Americas in the presence of the US President F.D. Roosevelt. Artistic, scholarly, philosophical and literary heritage left by the Roerich family which was handed over to the ICR according to S. Roerich's will is of paramount importance not only for Russia, but also for the world culture, due to its great potential for uniting the nations in the name of culture on the basis of the deep humanism of the Roerichs’ ideas. The International Centre of the Roerichs' mission is preserving and popularization for future generations the Roerich family heritage which is dispersed across the world. Embodying Roerichs’ idea “World through Culture” in its broad cultural activities the Centre always encourages international cooperation in the field of cultural interaction. Promoting the ideas of peace and respect towards all cultures the ICR keeps instilling in the society deep respect for the traditional knowledge of the peoples of the world and encouraging its study. As an associated member of the UN Department of Public Information, the ICR actively participates in its work and annual conferences, setting a goal to preserve the Roerichs heritage in the world. For this purpose the ICR held the exhibitions of original paintings and archive photo documents in India, the USA (in Washington and the United Nations Organization's main office in New York), France (UNESCO headquarters in Paris), Sweden, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Mexico (in the framework of the DPI/NGO annual conference 2009), Cuba, Spain, Austria and other countries. The ICR is also a member of the Pan-European Federation for Cultural Heritage “Europa Nostra”, the International National Trusts Organization (INTO), the International Council of Museums (ICOM), and is a Trustee at the International Roerich Memorial Trust in Kullu, India. Over the years, the ICR has been cooperating with the Association of National Committees of the Blue Shield, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other international organizations. The ICR also has a functioning Scientific Council headed by V.A. Chereshnev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Committee on Science and Science-intensive Technologies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly. There are 8 academicians, 8 doctors and 5 candidates from Russia, Belorussia, Kyrgyzstan and Bulgaria participating in its work. The ICR regularly arranges musical evenings, lectures on popular science and annual international scientific conferences with a broad scope of scientific and public figures as their participants. The ICR issues a periodical publication “Culture and Time” that was awarded with a distinction mark “The Gold Reserve of the Press – 2008” at the International professional exhibition “Press-2008”. The ICR also issues documentaries dedicated to the Roerichs' oeuvre. In 2005 the ICR film “Time to Gather Stones” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Roerich Pact was given the status of a national documentary of Russia. In November 2005 it was presented internationally at Brugge, Belgium, where the first constitutive conferences of the Roerich Pact took place in the early 1930s. In 2013 L.V. Shaposhnikova’s film “Call of the Cosmic Evolution” was released. It explains the importance of Roerichs’ heritage for the evolution of humanity.

Vice-President: Alexander Stetsenko The main structural unit of the International Centre of the Roerichs is the public Non-Governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich. It was founded on the basis of heritage passed to the ICR by Svetoslav Roerich. In addition, the structure of the organization features branches in Russia (St. Petersburg, Crimea) and abroad (Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Latvia) and also affiliated branch in Bulgaria. During the period of its existence the museum representing the largest collection of paintings by Nicolas and Svetoslav Roerichs has managed to become a major cultural, scientific, educational and spiritual centre for people from all over the world. In the ICR structure were created such scientific and research departments as – The Centre for Humane Pedagogy and the United Scientific Centre for Cosmic Thinking Problems where Russian and foreign scientists conduct their researches and have an opportunity to publish the results of their investigations. The Publication department of the ICR has issued over 200 publications with the aggregate circulation over 700,000 copies, including not only the books by the Roerichs, but also publications on different fields of scientific and cultural researches.
