Organizational structure:
We have a kind of Board, called the ‘Advisory Panel’, which will: “consist of the settlors and any other persons (not exceeding three in total) from whom the Trustee considers it helpful to obtain advice”. And: “Each member of the Advisory Panel is to be advised of the identity of the other members. The members of the Advisory Panel may confer with one another as they wish and may submit joint or individual recommendations”. We also have something called “the Trust Fund” which includes the original sum “held by the Trustee on the trusts and with the powers set out in this Deed”. It also includes “any money, investments or other property paid or given to or acquired by the Trustee after this Deed has been signed with the intention that it be held by the Trustee on the trusts and with the powers set out in this Deed”. The text outlining the purpose of the Charitable Trust as set out in this Deed: ” The Settlors wish to establish a perpetual charitab le trust for the following purposes to the extent they are charitable: (1)For the education of people with the aim of enhancing goodwill and understanding, communication and co-operation between people of different races, nations, creeds, cultures and groups with a view to building together a better world. (2)For the education of people about the natural environment, with particular emphasis on the understanding of the world as a whole (3)For establishing and caring for such areas as parks, waterways, place for contemplation, and walkways, which will help restore health and harmony in and between people, and with the environment, with an overall view to enhancing the health of the planet earth and all that live on it.”
Number and type of members:
To underscore the fundamental aim of our Charitable Trust, it was decided that we would have no membership, but instead seek close working relationships with any other group, NGO, organisation, or individual with the same ultimate goal. Through extensive traveling, and our quarterly publication “"Many to Many", a network of cooperation on common goals has been established and continues to evolve. However, a core group of 7 to 10 are consistently coordinating activities and working to promote OPTU’s aims and principles; we have co-workers in several countries, such as UK, USA, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand; our materials are available freely upon request and posted on-line, reaching the entire Internet community. -- OPTU founders Gita and Anthony Brooke were made UNANZ life members.
