Mission statement:	The Alex Ekwueme Foundation was established to promote the ideals, values and principles of Dr. Alex Ekwueme (former Vice President of Nigeria). The Foundation aims to ensure that such ideals as honesty, fostering peace, compromise, transparency in public service, and respect for democratic principles are secured in perpetuity. The Foundation was established to promote the philanthropic activities of Dr Ekwueme in the areas of health, education, poverty alleviation, housing, social justice and national integration in Nigeria. To achieve our stated objectives, the Foundation will: Promote peace in Africa through relevant partnerships, programmes and projects that seek to promote national cohesion and unity in Africa Promote democracy and the rule of law through public awareness and collaboration with other civil organisations. Advocate for honesty and transparency in public service. Engage in the provision of consultancy on conflict management and resolution techniques, including mediation and negotiation skills, to governments and non-governmental organisations Educate the public about the principles of democracy and good governance as a panacea for sustainable peace, security and development The Foundation would partner with other organisations towards the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals in the areas of 1. Achieve universal primary education 2. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases 3. Develop global partnership for development 4. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger 5. Improve maternal health 6. Ensure environmental sustainability

Organizational structure:	The Board of Trustees is the highest decision making body. It is headed by a Chairman and have its own secretary. The management of the Foundation is headed by a Director General who is the chief executive officer. Other officers includes, Head of Finance, Head of Administration, Legal Secretary, Head of Campaign and Mobilisation
