Its mission is to facilitate the implementation of the disposition of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on accessible and assistive ICTs by fostering a global dialogue on ICT accessibility among all multi- stakeholders involved (Governments, ICT vendors, NGOs representing persons with disabilities, international development organizations, standards organizations, academia, large users of ICTs from both the private and public sectors). The four initial objectives set by the December 4, 2006 G3ict inaugural Steering Committee include: 1. Support policy makers in matters of legislation and regulations on ICT accessibility 2. Help raise the awareness of issues related to ICT accessibility and the potential of assistive technologies 3. Explore areas of opportunities with industry, the public sector and civil society for the advancement of new ICT solutions for persons living with disabilities 4. Promote the standardization and harmonization programs related to ICT accessibility and assistive technologies currently led by multiple organizations around the world
