Mission statement:	CETREDE, since its foundation linked to the Federal University of Ceará - UFC, has the mission of promoting and developing education for the citizenship exercise. Always in tune with UFC academic activities, CETREDE is playing an important role in professionals training, which constitutes a form of knowledge generated in academic institutions socialization. From 1973, CETREDE diversified and expanded the set of its actions to train government agencies, development banks, private companies and public agencies technicians, with special attention to the Brazilian Northeast Region. In 1980, due to the autonomy granted by the founding institutions (Federal University of Ceará - UFC, Northeast Bank of Brazil - BNB and the Northeast Development Superintendency), it had incorporated new services, especially researching and consulting. Currently, CETREDE activities focus on training programs implementation, professional training and specialization of human resources, with priority given to organizational and technological knowledge, including average, higher and postgraduate levels, from the perspective of continuing education. Another important aspect of CETREDE consists of performing consulting services which are designed to promote institutional development and modernization of public and private organizations. The programs developed by CETREDE are based on the premise that innovation and improvement of products, services and processes depend on human resources training, intensive use of information technology and organizational procedures strategically aligned with the changing environmental conditions. On the other hand, CETREDE always seeks to combine integration and diversification concepts in developing programs. Diversification by offering courses related to various areas of knowledge, moving between different theories from different disciplines and fields of knowledge. The integration is present to focus on these various areas together under a single global view of cyclical developments, trying to integrate theory and reality, the achievement of its mission to design and implement solutions to ensure people and organizations to develop skills essential to work in a permanently changing context.

CETREDE is directly linked with the following institutions: - Federal University of Ceará - UFC (www.ufc.br), the biggest university of the state of Ceará, supported by the Federal Government, which supplies CETREDE with all researchers and professors necessary to accomplish its courses, researchers and other objectives. - Bank of the Northeast of Brazil - BNB (www.bnb.com.br),the Brazilian Federal Bank focused on developing the Brazilian Northeast and its Semi-Arid region. - The Northeast Development Superintendency - SUDENE (www.sudene.gov.br), the federal body in charge of funding different infrastructure, industrial and agricultural projects in the Brazilinan Northeast Region.
