Mission statement:

Organizational structure: Intergovernmental Organisation with the Summit, Council of Ministers, Committee of Ambassadors and a Secretariat. The Secretariat is run by an Executive Secretary supported by four Divisions (Division of Agriculture and Environment, Division of Economic Cooperation and Social Development, Division of Peace and Security & Division of Adminstration and Finance) with a number of Sections and Units.
Number and type of members: The Authority has eight members, namely Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, North Sudan, South Sudan,and Uganda.
Affiliation with NGO networks: IGAD has a Civil Society Forum at regional level and sectoral NGO foras

  • Foreign and international grants
Funding structure other: Member states cover the cost of runing the Secretariat while partners assist in funding development programmes.
