Mission statement:	The purpose of CePED is to contribute to the promotion of sustainable development whose components must be perceived and treated in a simultaneous way; as: - the component relating to the economic development or the improvement of the wellbeing which refers not only to the material wellbeing but also to the qualitative aspects; - the component relating to the ecological sustainability i.e. safeguarding and improvement of the essential functions of the ecosystems; - the component relating to the social justice which refers to the redistribution of the material products, with the access to the information, in short to all the processes which allow all the people and all the groups of people to take part totally in the change for a sustainable development. CePED is a public institution tool of development, expertise, promotion and management of the partnerships south-south and North-South with and between the segments of the civil society, in matter of sustainable development. CePED has the role of contributing to the promotion of the sustainable development through the development of the expertise and the reinforcement of the partnerships. For this reason, it acts at the same time as an agency of execution, a central office of the programs and an engineering and design department. CePED is charged to contribute: - to the definition of the national policies and strategies related to sustainable development ; - to the formulation of the projects/programs and/or the execution of these ; - to the follow-up of the projects/programs; - to the reinforcement of the national capacities in various fields of the sustainable development. CePED has mainly as activities: - execution of the Program for South-south Cooperation between Benin Bhutan and Costa Rica; - promotion, within the civil society and States departments of inter-country reciprocal projects or the project purely of national interest in the field of the sustainable development; - the formulation and/or execution of the programs which capitalize as well as possible the assets of Benin comparing to the provided efforts these last years regarding sustainable development; - the realization of the paying expertise services.

Organizational structure:	The management bodies of the Center are the Council of Management and the Cell of Execution.The Council of Management of CePED has the following attributions: - to define the orientation and to approve the action plans of the Center; - to control the management of the inheritance of the Center; - to examine the regularity of the documents and accounting records of the Center; - to adopt and to revise the Statutes and Procedure Rules of the Center; - to examine and to approve the management reports of the Cell of Execution; - to vote the budget and to approve the annual balance sheets; - to decide transfer, if necessary, the seat of the Center. The Council of Management is composed of personalities retained for their competence in a field of the sustainable development: - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Development; - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Environment; - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Co-operation; - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Agriculture; - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Finances; - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Social Affairs; - a representative of the Ministry in charge of Tourism; - a representative of Benin’s universities ; - a Representative of Agriculture Chamber ; - a Representative of Benin Commercial and Industry Chamber; - a representing of Women Associations; - a representative of the Federations of Non Governmental Organizations. The Cell of Execution is the body in charge of the execution of the programs and plans of activities approved by the Council of Management. To this end, it is charged : - to present the annual balance sheet of the activities of the Center at the Council of Management; - to carry out the programs and plans approved by the Council of Management; - to work out the budgets and to prepare the preliminary drafts of programs/plans to submit to the Council Management; - to prepare the ordinary sessions of the Council of Management; - to prepare and submit to the Council Management for adoption Rules of procedure of the Center; - to elaborate, analyze and implement all the actions of the Center.
