EXPLANATION
The Organization, consists in the following structure:
Council: according to the IEMO constitution, the Council, major body of the organization is composed of the voting Representatives as well as of observers and decides at simple majority (one vote for each voting State). Each state designates a Representative within the Council, charged to follow the activities of the Organization, while International Organizations may participate to the Council with capacity of observer. The Council summons in ordinary session once a year, normally parallel to the International Conference on Emergency Prevention, convened annually by the Organization.
Secretariat : the Directional Secretariat, executive organ of the organization is in charge for the operational activity as well as ensures the keeping of the records and of the proceedings of the Council and the fulfilment of the secretarial duties in favour of the Council and includes the Office of the President, principal officer, the Office of the Inspector-General, in charge of internal affairs, as well as Departments (5) and Commissions
Commissions: are appointed by the Secretariat to perform duties relevant to the attainment of specific technical and institutional organizational tasks as the Commission on Emergency categorization, Commission on Early Warning Systems, Commission on relations with NGOs and Commission on the Global Prevention Network |

Founding Members of the Organization are: Benin, Burundi, Guinea, Lebanon, Madagascar, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Somalia, while Affiliated to the Organization and therefore represented by the respective National Emergency Management Agencies (NEMAs) are: Algeria, Colombia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Kenya, Macedonia, Malawi, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Samoa, South Africa and Zambia.
The Organization is self funding through specific Programs, and through voluntary donations and grants. |
