Buck International advances our founder’s legacy through three distinct programs: Welcome House® Who We Serve: Children in need of a permanent, loving family; adoptive families in need of lifelong support. What We Do:Adoption and Post Adoption Services (Post Adoption Services are for ALL adoptive families – regardless of whether they adopted through Welcome House®). Where We Do It: China, Korea, Colombia, Costa Rica and Pennsylvania (Statewide Adoption Network). Why We Do It:To advance Pearl S. Buck’s belief that all children are entitled to the love and security of a family. How We Do It:By providing the highest standard of adoption services, advocacy, and lifelong support to adopted persons and their families. Number served:Since 1949, Welcome House® has found permanent, loving families for over 7,000 children. Opportunity House Who We Serve:Children who are Ethnic/Racial Minority; Orphaned; Disabled; Affected by HIV/AIDS. What We Do:Provide access to health and education programs. Where We Do It: Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, China and Taiwan. Why We Do It:To advance Pearl S. Buck’s vision of a world where ALL children live with hope. How We Do It:By providing funding, awareness raising and technical assistance to country offices, affiliates and partners. Typical programs include immunizations, HIV/AIDS prevention education and care, school, tuition assistance and inclusive education for disabled children. Number served:Since 1964, Opportunity House programs have improved the lives of over 2 million children. The Pearl S. Buck House Who We Serve:Children (especially students), adults and senior citizens; business and nonprofit community. What We Do:Educate, inspire and motivate the public by sharing Pearl S. Buck’s story and her continuing legacy through Pearl S. Buck International’s programs. Where We Do It: Bucks County, PA, and the surrounding region. Why We Do It:To advance Pearl S. Buck’s legacy of cross-cultural appreciation and improving children’s lives. How We Do It:Interpretive tours, exhibits, lectures, seminars, events and site rentals (wedding, business, nonprofit). Number served:In 2010-2011, over 22,000 visitors were educated, inspired and motivated through programs on the grounds of The Pearl S. Buck House. |
