| Purpose of the organization: |
African Peace Network (APNET) International is Non-Governmental organization(NGO),in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations (UN) whose main aim is to promote world peace. The broad Aims and Objectives of the organization are spelt as follows: 1.To promote world peace. 2.To promote human right activities 3.To promote the activities of the United Nations To work and maintain conducive environment and sustainable development. 4.T o establish youth development and skills training centers to help develop their talents. 5.To help protect women and children against all forms of abuses such as defilement,assault of forms,female genital mutilation,child abuse,child labour,neglect,etc 6.To establish rehabilitation centers for prostitutes to curb the HIV/AIDS menace. 7.To help improve the living standards of disabled persons in the society. 8.To ensure that people all over the world live in harmony and peace irrespective of one's social,economic cultural or political background. |

The organization has conducted activities in various areas of the countries to support the disabled and physically challenged in Koforidua in trhe Eastern Region and Lekple in the Volta Region. As part of the organization's Projects and programmes,we have projected to carry out a series of activities in 2011,in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Welfare to support the disabled and physically challenged. |

Over the year, a number of developmental activities were taken by APNET,some of the most prominent ones include the following: 1.Education on Afforestation 2.Education on Women Empowerment and Child Abuse 3.Education on Environmental Cleanliness which was celebrated with a clean-up exersices in various communitites and official launching of APNET's Chapters in both TOGO AND LA COTE D IVOIRE . 4.APNET participated in workshops, seminars and conferences on sustainable energy and environment, organized by the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana and the UNCTAD in Doha- Qatar. 5. Series of local tours were also organized,in collaboration with the Ghana AIDS Commission, over the years, to educate the public on the dangers in HIV/AIDS pandemics and the best way one can live without falling a victim. 6. As women empowerment is of paramount concern to APNET, a number of workshops , seminars were organized for women in remote and marginalized areas like Akuase in the Birim North District, Tweapease and Boadua in the Kwaebibirim district, Boakyekrom in the Afram plains area, Asuokor and Osenase in the west Akyem district and Adowso and Adukrom in the Akuapem south district, all in the Eastern Region. Also, woman were taught how to process gari(a local food) and vocation, which will help liberate them from the prevailing abject poverty in places like Leklebi, Hohoe, Agbesia - Duga, Lekpe - Todome and Abutia, all in the Volta Region. |
