Organizational structure: ASPBAE is a membership-based, Asia Pacific regional civil society network. Its highest decision making body is the General Assembly (GA) of members which meets once every 4 years. The GA defines the strategic directions of the organisation and elects an Executive Council with representatives from the four (4) sub-regions of the Asia Pacific and a President elected at large. Gender-balanced representation characterizes the composition of the Executive Council. The Executive Council appoints the Secretary General (SG), an ex officio member of the Executive who is the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation. The Executive approves plans and budgets of the organisation. The Secretary General appoints and supervises staff to run the day to day operations of ASPBAE.
Number and type of members: Around 150 member organisations operating in more than 30 countries in the Asia Pacific region. ASPBAE members straddle national education campaign coalitions, NGOs, community education groups, sectoral organisations of youth, women and indigenous people.
