In eight years, five books were released. Also an international project is undergoing. Caring - A documentary about the humane medical care in Brazil (2006). The photographer set out to document health teams across the country applying humanization and care in day-to-day lives of thousands of patients. With the publication of these images, André broadened reflections about the care and humanization. The Curve and the Path - Access to health care in Brazil (2008), which recorded histories of Brazilian patients and their sagas by access to health. Access to healthcare is a right recognized by international agencies and by most countries. In Brazil, by law, every citizen has any right to free health treatment. This information, however, is not consistent with the reality found in places covered by the photographer, and was one of the first thoughts that generated this work. Choosing and Living - Treatment and Quality of life of chronical renal patients (2009). In four years of research and records on health, the photographer André François found several chronic renal patients and followed their sagas in search of treatment that keeps them alive. By discovering the peritoneal dialysis an alternative to hemodialysis, André decided to record the history of patients from different Brazilian cities using this less known treatment. Back home - A documentary about home care in Brazil (2010)This narrative tells the stories of patients who gained the right to receive medical care in their homes and health professionals who support these families every day. In addition to showing the difficulties faced by people who experience home care, the documentary seeks to show this modality is still little known nationally. |
