Our mission is to develop knowledge and skills for persons with disabilities, encouraging them to become their own best self advocates. Al-Manarah enhances cooperation between civil society actors advocating equality for persons with disabilities, and provides legal leverage for the enforcement of domestic and international disability rights law. To structure this work we have five main programs. These are:- 1) The Empowerment and Skills Development program works directly with the disabled community, informing them of their rights and entitlements. 2) The Fostering Social Awareness Program, which looks at the wider community and their reactions and responses to Arab persons with disabilities living in Israel. 3) Legal Advocacy – Al-Manarah's legal department works with persons with disabilities who feel their rights have been violated or have failed to be implemented. 4) The Library for Persons with Print Disabilities produces material using the especially adapted studio to make new recordings of Arabic audio books, which are available for the disabled community of Nazareth and the wider community in Israel. |
