Organizational structure 1)Board of Directors o Voting Officers President Vice President/President Elect Executive Director Treasurer Policy Advisor Outreach Coordinator Executive Member 2) Non-Voting Advisors o Editors of Publications of the Society o Conference Coordinator o Past Presidents 3) Society Membership Officers and Their Duties President (2-year term) The President is responsible for coordinating organizational business in consultation with the Board of Directors. The President is responsible for assessing, with the Board, that the Board is meeting the Society's current objectives. The President organizes and conducts the annual meeting of the Board of Directors, in consultation with other board members and Society advisors. Vice President/President Elect (2-year term) The Vice-President/President-Elect assists the President and takes a role in the organization of the bi-annual meeting. The Vice President also serves on the Nominating committee. The Vice President directs ethics issues, including the development and maintenance of the Society's ethics codes. Executive Director (3-year term) The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. Treasurer (3-year term) The Treasurer is responsible for receiving the Society's finances, managing dues, and disbursing funds. The Treasurer reports to the Membership and the Board of Directors on current and projected financial situations of the Society. The Treasurer pursues creative ways to use our funds to help grow the Society. Executive Member (3-year terms) Terms of the Executive Member takes part in discussions of and voting on all matters related to running the International Society on Aging and Disease, both during the year, and at bi-annual meetings held by the Society. Outreach Coordinator (3-year term) Responsible for developing, planning and implementing a calendar of numerous onetime as well as ongoing, both large and small scale fundraising and community outreach events throughout the year in a deadline driven, fast paced environment. Able to work independently, as well as within a team. Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision. Advisors and Their Duties Editors of Publications of the Society The Editors of the Society's publications are appointed by the President, in consultation with the Board of Directors. These publications include Aging and Disease, and any additional publications issued by the Society. The Editors for each publication have the rights and duties outlined in here and in the Society's bylaws only for the publication for which they have been appointed editors. Conference Coordinator (term varies) The Conference Coordinator is appointed by the President, in consultation with the Board of Directors. The Conference Coordinator recruits potential future conference venues for consideration and selection by the Board, and identified the conference location, preferably two years in advance. Past Presidents (advisors for life) Each Past President has served the Society as both Vice President/President Elect and President, for a total of two years. Past Presidents retain the right to be heard and to participate in all Society Board and Committee Meetings, whether open to the public or not. They comprise a group of experienced general advisors that support the Society and its efforts, and help with all decisions related to Society business. Society Membership Membership includes both individuals and institutions. Paid members attend the bi-annual international meeting hosted in diverse cities. |

The ISOAD members are leaders in moving science and medicine of aging and aged-related disease towards the goal of improved human health worldwide. Our over 800 members are practitioners, educators, administrators, researchers, and students from all the world. ISOAD’s members represent the diverse array of professionals in the field of aging and aged-related disease, along the continuum of care and service and who are concerned with the physical, emotional, social, economic and spiritual well-being of older adults. The Society offers several categories of membership: Professional Member: Persons with a degree from an accredited institution in a related field of the aging or aged-related disease. Early Professional Member (Intern/Post Doc): Persons in the first five years following completion of all requirements for a Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited institution in a related field of the aging or aged-related disease. Student Member: Student Members are students who are engaged in full-time study in a field allied with one or more aging or aged-related disease disciplines. Student Members are required to Student IDs as proof of full-time student status. |
