Mission statement:	ACORD’s vision is a society in which all citizens are equally able to achieve their rights and fulfill their responsibilities. ACORD works in common cause with people who are poor and those who have been denied their rights to obtain social justice and development, and be part of locally rooted citizen movements. We focus on livelihoods, conflict, gender and HIV/AIDS: 1. Strengthen the livelihoods of marginalised communities and their capacity to advocate for their rights and achieve food sovereignty 2. Facilitate an enabling environment where marginalised communities become effective agents of conflict transformation 3. Build the knowledge on gender relations and effective ways of addressing gender inequalities 4. Promote learning, strengthen capacity and develop effective partnerships so as to influence thinking, policies and practice on HIV and AIDS

Organizational structure:	The General Assembly approves annual accounts, board appointments, strategic plan and broad policies. The Board of Directors controls ACORD’s work and is accountable to the Assembly. The senior management team is responsible for day-to-day management and is accountable to the Board. The decentralized country offices are accountable to the ACORD Secretariat, which is structured in four divisions: programming, finance, partnership, funding and communication, and Human Resources management & administration.
Number and type of members:	As of 31 December 2011, 4 organisational legal members and 14 individual legal members, a majority from Africa.
