Mission statement:	The Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) is a coordination body of 23 national parliamentary committees and official standing parliamentary committees on population, health and social affairs. These committees are from Asia, Pacific and Central Asia countries and are supported by full-time staff. AFPPD conducts regular advocacy activities through these committees that aim to involve, educate and motivate parliamentarians on issues related to population and development, including sexual and reproductive health; maternal and children’s health; HIV/AIDS; and cultural sensitivity. These advocacy efforts are designed to build capacity and willingness of parliamentarians to actively support legislation and the allocation of resources to deal with these matters at national and local levels.
