The aims and objectives of the Society are: - To promote the development of knowledge and ideas concerning human settlements by research and through publications, conferences, scholarships, etc.; - To encourage the development and expansion of education in ekistics; - To educate public opinion concerning ekistics, thus stimulating world-wide interest and cooperation; - To recognize the benefits and the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach to the needs of human settlements, and to promote and emphasize such an approach.
