Mission statement:	O Programa Pé-de-pincha integra um dos componentes de Iniciativas Promissoras do Projeto Manejo dos Recursos Naturais da Várzea – ProVárzea. O ProVárzea/Ibama faz parte do Programa Piloto para Proteção das Florestas Tropicais do Brasil – PPG7, e seu objetivo é contribuir para que a várzea da calha dos rios Solimões e Amazonas seja conservada mediante o uso sustentável dos seus recursos naturais. Para isso, trabalha em parceria com instituições governamentais (Universidade Federal do Amazonas e prefeituras municipais de alguns locais de atuação) e não-governamentais (Petrobrás Ambiental), organizações pesqueiras e comunitárias. Este programa atua de forma integrada em 32 municípios dos estados do Pará e do Amazonas no norte do Brasil.
