Organizational structure: |
Our organisation was established at the recommendation of the Global Fund for Women as these is not fund set up in Australia especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Our organisation is currently an un-incorporated body. However, we have had a meeting in early July to agree to establish the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women's Fund as an incorporated body under the Northern Territory Associations Incorporation Act. The ATSIWF is a small organisation made up of 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. It is managed by an Executive Management Committee made up of 5 office bearers (Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Officer and 2 committee members. All of the members of the association have to be located in the Northern Territory. However, the clients that the association works with are drawn from ATSI women and ATSI Women's associations from across Australia from cities, regional, remote and very remote areas. All members of the association are ATSI women and the people we service are ATSI women and ATSI women's associations. |
Number and type of members: |
The association has two types of members, the Foundation Members who are the members at the time the association was started and ordinary members. All members have to be ATSI women. Although the Fund has a small membership it was designed this way to ensure that administrative costs associated with running and governing the fund are minimised. |
Affiliation with NGO networks: |
Although not formerly affiliated with any NGO at this stage, all ATSIWF members are affiliated with numerous NGO networks. |
Funding structure: |
Grants from Governments
Fees for education and training services
Fees for providing consulting or research services
