Mission statement:	Vision The Vision of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Fund is “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls will live long fulfilling lives where they are healthy, free from violence, are able to achieve the level of academic, economic, political and independence they choose, are aware of their human rights, are free from discrimination, practice self-determination, and their culture, language and land continues to be maintained and cherished by themselves, their people, governments and the wider Australian community.” Mission The Mission of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Fund is to secure funding, resources and other support from individuals, groups and the private, public, community and philanthropic sectors that can be distributed by various means to individuals, groups and communities so that Indigenous women and girls will benefit from the assistance, and be able to focus on achieving their visions for the future. The fund may also undertake projects, research, training and promotional and other support activities that will lead towards the enhancement of Indigenous women and girls’ lives, including direct advocacy action when considered necessary. In addition, when considered appropriate, the fund may auspice funding, resources or projects and activities for other groups, including disadvantaged groups. Objectives The primary objective of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Fund is to enhance the lives of ATSI women and girls and to ensure their human and other rights are maintained through: 1. Encouraging and supporting cultural knowledge and understanding; 2. Reinforcing cultural identity and diversity, including our many Indigenous languages; 3. Working towards zero violence, and towards individual and community safety; 4. Helping to improve primary health and emotional well-being and avoiding self-harm; 5. Increasing knowledge and understanding of individual and ATSI human rights; 6. Supporting the capacity of women to achieve economic and political empowerment; 7. Supporting leadership and governance development in individuals, groups and women’s organisations; 8. Advocating for viable ATSI women led enterprise development and sustainability; 9. Providing presentations, forums, conferences and other events that lead to the education of Indigenous women and the wider community to raise awareness of issues that need to be achieved or overcome if our Vision is to achieved; 10. When considered necessary or appropriate, auspice funding, resources or projects and activities for other groups, including disadvantaged groups. 11. Developing and implementing programs, projects and research that support the Vision, Mission and Objectives of the Fund.

Organizational structure:	Our organisation was established at the recommendation of the Global Fund for Women as these is not fund set up in Australia especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Our organisation is currently an un-incorporated body. However, we have had a meeting in early July to agree to establish the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women's Fund as an incorporated body under the Northern Territory Associations Incorporation Act. The ATSIWF is a small organisation made up of 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. It is managed by an Executive Management Committee made up of 5 office bearers (Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Officer and 2 committee members. All of the members of the association have to be located in the Northern Territory. However, the clients that the association works with are drawn from ATSI women and ATSI Women's associations from across Australia from cities, regional, remote and very remote areas. All members of the association are ATSI women and the people we service are ATSI women and ATSI women's associations.
Number and type of members:	The association has two types of members, the Foundation Members who are the members at the time the association was started and ordinary members. All members have to be ATSI women. Although the Fund has a small membership it was designed this way to ensure that administrative costs associated with running and governing the fund are minimised.
Affiliation with NGO networks:	Although not formerly affiliated with any NGO at this stage, all ATSIWF members are affiliated with numerous NGO networks.
