Purpose of the organization: |
WFD promotes the rights of Deaf people to participate in society, government and other areas of life as equal citizens.

Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: |
- Providing training, supportive services and material on CRPD to national deaf associations.
- Promotion of national monitoring of CRPD by WFD national members.
- International advocacy, participation in fulfilment of CRPD and CRPD reporting.
- Collaboration between state parties, national deaf associations and UN bodies. |
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: |
WFD develops policies, guidelines and other materials, conduct surveys and provide training and information in collaboration with national deaf associations and regional secretariats, among other activities. It also runs a regional project to improve deaf association's capacities and to raise awareness on human rights issues in Western and Central Africa. |
