Mission statement:	To be a permanent cooperation, exchange and information forum guided by the principle of reducing regional asymetries among the member countries through its actions, cooperating in national processes for socio-economic progress and enabling gradual incorporation of these vast territories into the national economies, promoting regional cooperation actions to improve the quality of life of Amazon, and working under the principle of sustainable development and sustainable development and sustainable livelihood in harmony with nature and the environment and considering the internal laws of the member countries. Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACT) and expedites the execution of its decisions through its Permanent Secretariat. The various dimensions of its operations - political-diplomatic, strategic and technical - correspond to the different spheres of the Treaty and ensure compliance with the purposes of the ACT and of the Organization itself. ACTO, without doubt, is a contemporaneous instrument of the ACT with a broad vision of South-South cooperation that strengthens its governments' vocation to build synergies with other players, nations, multilateral bodies, development agencies, social movements, scientific community, productive sectors and society in general. ACTO coordinates studies and pilot projects on economic perspectives capable of generating income and opportunities for the Amazon region, thus fostering effective cooperation and integration among the Party Countries of the Treaty. One of its functions as a regional entity is liaising with ongoing initiatives in the Amazonian territory in areas like Indigenous Affairs, Health,infrastructure, transport and communications. One important element in the attainment of this goal is ensuring an adequate interconnection with actions developed by the Union of South American Nations (Unasur).
