    Year established:
Organizational structure: ADF Structure General Assembly The General Assembly is the highest authority of the ADF and meets every 4 years. The General Assembly is composed of 2 voting delegates (1 male, 1 female) from each ADF full member continental DPO organization, and 2 voting delegates (1 male, 1 female) from each ADF full member sub-regional DPO federation. Only ADF member organizations which are current in their ADF dues payments are permitted to send voting delegates to the General Assembly. In addition, the General Assembly is composed of 4 voting delegates (2 male, 2 female) elected by ADF member national federations in each of 5 sub-regions (20 total voting delegates). Criteria for the election of voting delegates ensure representation by different disability groups and youth with disabilities and limit representation to no more than one person from the same country. The ADF Bylaws spell out in greater detail the criteria and modalities for election of voting delegates to the General Assembly. Executive Council The General Assembly elects every four years the 9 members of the ADF Executive Council. Election of officers and members take into consideration gender, type of disability, and regional representation. The ADF Bylaws spell out in greater detail the criteria and modalities for election of Council officers and members, who must be members of and nominated by an ADF full member organization. The ADF Chairperson chairs Executive Council meetings. The ADF Office Director serves as an ex-officio Council member. The following are the current officers and members of the ADF Executive Council:
Number and type of members: 1. African Continental DPOs Pan African organisations composed of representative national organisations of persons with disabilities and/or parents of persons with disabilities have full voting rights and are eligible for election to the ADF Executive Council, and to other ADF structures. 2. African Sub-regional Federations of DPOs African sub-regional legally established federations of national representative cross-disability umbrella organisations of persons with disabilities and parents have full voting rights and are eligible for election to the ADF Executive Council and to other ADF structures. 3. National Federations of DPOs Legally established and representative cross-disability national federations and networks of DPOs have a right to participate in ADF work plan activities and to participate in ADF General Assembly meetings and other ADF-sponsored events. Voting rights of national federations in the ADF General Assembly are according to a sub-regional voting system set out in the ADF Bylaws. 4. ADF Associate Members and Partners Non-governmental organisations of all kinds (disability service providing organisations, development NGOs, universities, public and private companies, others) working at African regional, sub-regional, or national level, as well as international organizations that are committed to promoting the aims of ADF, may join the ADF as Associate Members. Organizations that provide financial, material and other support to ADF may join ADF as Supporting Members. Potential supporting member organizations include governments, bilateral and multilateral donor agencies, UN organizations, foundations, non-governmental donor agencies, and other organizations working at African regional, sub-regional, or national level that are committed to supporting the aims and work of the Forum. Associate and Associate and Supporting members are regularly informed about ADF work and may participate in meetings and other ADF-sponsored events at their own expense, but have no voting rights, nor the right to be elected to the ADF Executive Council or other ADF structures.
