Millennium Development Goals:	Promote gender equality and empower women
Mission statement:	The main purpose is to further cooperation and the interchange of experiences between women of the Mediterranean countries in order to propose and carry out sustainable solutions for the effective improvement of women’s condition at a global level and, more specifically, throughout the Mediterranean. As the Association bases its activities on the conviction that favouring cultural action is a concrete opportunity to build true understanding between the people of the Mediterranean it concentrates on its primary objectives: •To consolidate an action platform for non-governmental organisations and women’s groups in the Mediterranean region inspired by and based on the recommendations of the United Nations and UNESCO; •To establish contacts among women, especially with Mediterranean peoples and communities in order to encourage dialogue and cooperation projects; •To find and improve synergies between local, national or international institutions and civil society, in particular Associations; •To promote the study and development of regional and international research in the Mediterranean region in order to contribute towards a better knowledge of the female condition within the economic, professional, social, political and cultural context throughout the region. •The research will aim towards the development of concrete conclusions and effective proposals.

Number and type of members:	The Member States of the International Mediterranean Women’s Forum are: Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. A Permanent Committee consisting of representatives of the Member States, the International Secretariat and the Presidency directs the Forum. The Office of the Presidency is situated in Turin under the responsibility of Mrs. M. Paola Azzario. The International Secretariat is periodically transferred among the various Mediterranean countries.
