Organizational structure: ESCR-Net is composed of organizational and individual Members. Members develop, prioritize, and undertake joint projects foremost through thematic working groups, which currently include: Adjudication, Corporate Accountability, Economic Policy and Human Rights, Social Movements, and Women and ESCR. Working groups are initiated when several members identify a common area of work, in line with ESCR-Net’s mission, which they desire to pursue and guide collectively. All working groups are expected to prioritize proactive outreach to recruit members that embody regional diversity, gender balance, and different types of organizations (i.e. grassroots, legal, policy). Each working group is also asked to collectively develop and annually revise a work plan that outlines objectives, strategies, and priority areas for action. Working groups are supported by a small Secretariat staff, who facilitate internal and external communication and translation; support coordination, outreach, and fundraising; assist with participatory evaluation; and liaise between the working group and Board. The ESCR-Net Board is elected by and from our Organizational Members, based on mandated principles of gender equity, regional balance and social movement participation. With the assistance of the Secretariat, the Board safeguards and advances the overall mission of ESCR-Net, identifies developments in the human rights field and in wider global conditions, and assists in facilitating a shared analysis and strategic direction, guiding and prioritizing Network efforts.
Number and type of members: Over 220 organizations and 50 individuals from 70 different countries form the General Assembly of ESCR-Net. These organizations and individuals working in the field of economic, social and cultural rights, set the Network's agenda and priorities. Through Working Groups, Members develop and take the lead on the Network's project activities.
    Funding structure:
  • Donations and grants from domestic sources
