    Year of registration: 2007
Organizational structure: Established in 1992 as an outcome of a Presidential Drug Advisory Council, Community Anti- Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) is a leading U.S. based substance use prevention organization, representing over 5,000 community-based coalitions across the United States and in 28 countries that work to create safe, healthy, and drug-free communities. CADCA accomplishes this by assisting local communities through training and technical support to develop effective multi-sector community coalitions capable of achieving and sustaining population-level reductions in illicit substance use rates and related problems. Our goal is to provide coalitions with the assistance they need to be stronger, more effective and to provide the leadership required to create a supportive climate for the coalition movement to be successful. More than any other entity, community coalitions are poised to connect multiple sectors of the community, including businesses, parents, media, treatment, law enforcement, schools, faith-based organizations, health providers, social service agencies and government. By acting in concert through the coalition, all of the partners gain a more complete understanding of the community’s problems. Together, the partners organize and develop plans, programs and policies to coordinate their prevention efforts. CADCA provides training and technical assistance, public policy advocacy, media strategies and marketing programs, research and evaluation support, conferences and special events. Annually, CADCA hosts over 3,000 individuals from community coalitions at the Leadership Forum and CADCA Mid-Year conferences. Each year, CADCA conducts local trainings at over 200 locations to almost 10,000 people, provides resources and technical assistance and hosts numerous meetings and events for community coalitions to strengthen their capacity to reduce substance abuse rates in the United States CADCA’s international initiative reflects its national efforts of offering trainings, technical assistance, resources and strategies for the development of community coalitions, incorporating key actors from a diverse range of community sectors including governmental institutions, non-government organizations, civic and religious organizations, community groups and others. Since 2005, CADCA’s International division has offered more than 2,000 trainings in 9 languages, empowering more than 50,000 people in 30 countries. To date, there exists an international network of more than 300 community coalitions representing more than 12,000 active volunteer members directly trained by CADCA who work collaboratively to create safe, healthy, and drug-free communities.
