Mission statement:
Eurodad (European Network on Debt and Development) is a network of 47 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from 19 European countries working on issues related to debt, development finance and poverty reduction. The Eurodad network offers a great platform for exploring issues, collecting intelligence and ideas, and undertaking collective advocacy. The network focuses on debt cancellation, effective aid, the private turn of aid, and tax justice. Work is continuing on the promotion of responsible finance principles and practices and the redesign of the financial architecture. The network is analysing and influencing European government’s policy responses to the financial crisis. The main institutions targeted by the Eurodad network are European governments, the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Eurodad’s aims are to: - push for development policies that support pro-poor and democratically-defined sustainable development strategies. - support the empowerment of Southern people to chart their own path towards development and ending poverty. -seek a lasting and sustainable solution to the debt crisis, appropriate development financing, and a stable international financial system conducive to development. Eurodad coordinates the work of non-governmental organisations working on these issues, and collaborates actively with civil society in the North and South to attain these goals. Southern networks with which Eurodad works very closely include Jubilee South, Afrodad, Latindadd and the Third World Network. Eurodad has existed since 1990 and is registered as a non-profit organisation in both the Netherlands and Belgium. Eurodad is funded by its members (about one third of its budget), by the European Commission, and by private foundations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. More information on Eurodad’s funding and finances is available at the annual reports and at the annual audit reports.
