Mission statement:	CID is the umbrella group for aid and development agencies, based in Aotearoa. CID aims to develop local capacity through participation and community assessment to address issues that will alleviate poverty and raise the capacity of the community to sustain economic and social improvement that impact on women and children; to respect the rights, beliefs, values and individuality of community groups; and to empower them to become self-determining and self-developing.

Organizational structure:	The Council for International Development (CID) was formed in 1985 by a small group of aid and development agencies which identified the need to coordinate some activities and present a single voice on issues of common concern.
Number and type of members:	Today CID has 95 members that include most of New Zealand's major Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) that work in aid and development around the world.
