Mission statement:
Our Mission The Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria is dedicated to providing and maintaining excellence in medical education and training to the Nigerian health workers; quality patient care and services to improve the health of all our patients and their families including increased access and reduced barriers to health care; and clinical and operational research to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our education and training and patient care services. To achieve this mission, we believe our first responsibility is to our patients and their families, our doctors and nurses and all other health workers who work in all the facilities we operate in or collaborate with. We believe our second responsibility is to our communities in which we live, work and serve as well as the Nigerian community at large; we must be good citizens that support good works including charities and bear our share of community responsibility through civic improvement, better health education and community support systems. We believe our third responsibility is to our employees, men and women who work with us throughout Nigeria; we respect their individuality, their dignity and we recognize their merit. We believe in fair and equitable compensation, personal development and career advancement, clean and safe working environment and the freedom to make suggestions and complaints. Our fourth responsibility is to our donors, grantor and benefactors. We believe in the efficient use of resources, transparency and accountability through an open budgeting and budget performance review, process documentation, process review, expense documentation and review, and an annual external audit and review system. Our final responsibility is to the government and the people of Nigeria at all levels (federal, state and local); we believe that our operations must be within the context of the national, state and local public health framework, national, state and local laws while taking traditions and customs into consideration; therefore, we must continuously engage the government and the people in our plans and operations.
