SONYO Umbrella has a clear structure of separate departments and hierarchy. This structure defines roles, responsibilities, authority, and process of carrying out assigned duties. There is a General Assembly, National Council and National Secretariat.
The General Assembly (GA) is the highest decision-making body of the organization. The members of the GA are official representatives of the member organizations of the umbrella. The GA convenes every two year after SONYO’s founding congress. The General Assembly formulates, approves and modifies SONYO’s Constitution and policies that bind the organization.
The National Council (NC) is composed of a total of thirteen (13) Regional Representatives coming from the six regions of the country. The National Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson lead the National Council. The NC serves a two years time period and acts as Board of Directors. It convenes once every four months. Its members approve SONYO’s policies and procedures.
The National Secretariat (NS), led by the Executive Director, is the leading body responsible for the implementation of SONYO’s activities and programs.
