Mission statement:	The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation supports women in times of war and conflict to increase women’s power and influence. We support more than 130 women's organisations in five conflict regions in their work for women's rights and peace. In wars and conflicts all over the world, violence against women and girls is used as a method of warfare. Women are subjected to mass rapes, they are maimed and they are killed. Women are held in their homes and girls are prevented from attending school. Women's voices are silenced if they express what they feel and think. At the same time, history shows that women often are the first to work for peace. The world saw this during the Balkans war, in Liberia and in Northern Ireland. Despite women's efforts, after the war has ended they are seldom permitted to participate in determining the path to peace. The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation's goal is for women to participate in peace processes on the same terms as men.

Organizational structure:	The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation was founded by the Swedish section of The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (IKFF). The Parent Bodies are IKFF and The Swedish Peace and Arbitration Association and they are responsible for appointing the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation President. This takes place every fourth year. The Board works from Rules of Procedure and a calendar that is evaluated on an annual basis. The aim of the Rules of Procedure is to specify routines for the Board's work, to stipulate the division of work tasks and areas of responsibility between Board members, and to clarify the dividing line between the responsibilities of the Board and the Secretariat. The Rules of Procedure stipulate the organisation's long-term strategies such as guidelines and evaluations, and determine management and control systems, and systems for fund management and administration. The organisation operates a dual leadership system in which the President and Managing Director runs the operation on assignment of the Board. The organization has an office with 25 employed staff at its Head Offcie in Stockholm and 9 employed staff at field offices in the respective regions of cooperation. Kvinna till Kvinna operates in the regions of the Western Balkans, South Caucasus and the Middle East. During 2008 the support base in these three regions consisted of 113 partner organisations.
Number and type of members:	The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation is a fund raising foundation supported by a large number of Swedish organisations. They act as moral support organisations and undertake to spread information about our activities to their members.
