Mission statement:	The African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) seeks to become the continent’s preeminent non-profit organization working for cancer control. AORTIC will achieve this through the facilitation of research and training as well as the provision of relevant and accurate information on the prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and palliation of cancer. Our organization is dedicated to providing all Africans with these benefits, as well as to increasing public awareness of cancer and reducing the stigma associated with it.

Organizational structure:	Council Members include: President, Secretary Treasurer, 7 Vice-Presidents representing the different areas in Africa and the U.S., 1 Nurse Representative and 6 Executive Council Members
Number and type of members:	Approximately 250 members all healthcare professionals including medical doctors, nurses, research scientists and public healthcare workers
Funding structure:	Membership fees or dues Donations and grants from domestic sources Foreign and international grants
