Mission statement:	To improve the livelihood security of local communities by strengthening their innovation systems in the management of agro-biodiversity and related environmental resources on a sustainable basis. In so doing CBAN promotes the use of appropriate Indigenous Knowledge Systems and technologies, builds synergies with cross-cutting challenges of gender equality, HIV/AIDS, food security and climate change.
