EDUCARE TRUST INTRODUCTION Educare Trust, Nigeria (Reg. No. 10213) is a Youth/Community Development Non-Governmental Organisation based in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria but with outreaches in several other parts of the country established on October 20, 1994 with a Youth Centre visited by well over hundred youth every week. MISSION To provide all-year-round practical activities that open the mind of the public, especially the youth, to full potential and promote Education, Health, Democracy, Good Governance and Leadership. This is fundamental to Sustainable Youth and Community Development, Poverty Reduction and Impact Assessment of public issues. VISION Our guiding principles are to strengthen Community and Youth Development programmes, enhance Community and Youth Participation in public issues, increase collaborative efforts with local and international partners, improve our skills and grow as one indivisible Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). GOALS The goals are to: 1. Strengthen Community and Youth Development programmes for sustainable development and poverty reduction. 2. Enhance Community and Youth Participation in public issues for acquisition of knowledge and skills. 3. Increase our collaborative efforts with local and international partners for mutual benefits, learning exchange and cross-fertilization of ideas. 4. Improve our skills and ensure competence in Programme Planning, Implementation, Management, Monitoring and Evaluation. 5. Grow as one indivisible Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) AIMS The aims are to: 1. Provide a model Inspirational Youth Centre for replication throughout the country by government agencies, community members and corporate bodies. 2. Highlight youth leadership in society so that community members can act together to provide better opportunities for the youth. 3. Provide a space for schools, tertiary institutions and individuals to groom, exhibit and develop talents 4. Arouse the spirit of volunteerism in youth for gainful use of free time, talent development and to fight socio-cultural vices. 5. Give Recognition, Reward & Award (RRA) to deserving youth, institutions and community members to serve as inspirational role models. 6. Encourage the practical aspects of out-of-classroom education, career choice and moral upbringing. 7. Encourage Business Ethics (BE) and Best Business Practice (BBP) through more relevant and meaningful Nigerian Corporate Social Responsibility Projects (CSRP) for youth and community development. SOME ACHIEVEMENTS 1. Educare trust has trained ove 5000 students in computer literacy workshop 2. Given out 100,000 books to school libraries 3. Given out over 1000 footballs to schools and youth clubs 4. The youth centre has received, empowered and enlightened over 2 million+ young visitors from hawkers to graduates, 10 Ambassadors and many government and private sector officials. 5. Its outreach public lectures on Radio and TV on youth empowerment and social vices have reached most of Nigeria influencing many millions of youth 6. Poster education programme has distributed hundred of thousands of life-skill messages on educational posters across thousands of schools.
