Mission statement:
Community Partners for Development (CPD) is a non-governmental organization (NGO), founded in 1997 to promote improved quality of life, environment and human rights in Nigeria and beyond. The creation of Community Partners for Development was in response to the endemic poverty, the unplanned growth of the communities, the declining quality of the health delivery system, the exploding population and the gradual degradation of the environment that accompanies them. It is our belief in CPD that these unmet needs can and should be improved through action-oriented and grassroots targeted projects. REGISTRATION CPD has registered at Federal Level (CAC 2005 with certificate number CAC / IT / NO 18790). State level 1998 with certificate number MWA & SW (Reg. #187, renewable every two years) and with Federal Ministry of Women Affairs 2006. VISION ¿A healthy and economically empowered Nigerian society living above five hundred naira (N500.00) per day, actively contributing to political and socio-economical development¿. MISSION STATEMENT ¿To facilitate the integrated development of communities through entrepreneurial and enterprise development, civic and citizenship education, economic empowerment and capacity building for the health system management improvement¿. CPD¿s operational principles emphasize partnerships with other organizations and initiatives in Akwa Ibom State. Guided by this methodology, CPD is about: - Clear shared goals and objectives - Clear roles and responsibilities among staff - Shared understanding of information management at all times. - Equal chance of advancement on job through general and specific trainings, openness to learning. - Active participation in decision making and equity in power relations. - Mutual respect and benefits in programme implementation. Goals of CPD: - Provide targeted communities with a mechanism for integrated community development by strengthening their capacity to more ably identify their problems, articulate them and deal with them; - Provide micro-credit schemes that will enhance the individual source of livelihood, harness the efforts of the communities and afford them an alternative income-generating source; - Work with other NGOs and CBOs to provide services and disseminate information on issues vital to the development of the society. OBJECTIVES - To strengthen organizational capacity/management of the partner groups; - To ensure financial sustainability of the community projects and accountability of the project managers; - To set in place a system of monitoring the management of the community projects; - To increase access to credit and income-generating opportunities for members of the communities - To increase awareness amongst members of the communities, of their civic rights and responsibilities; - To ensure the empowerment of women with a view to strengthening their capacity to participate more fully in decision making at all levels.
