Mission statement:
As an organization, the National Empowerment network of people living with HIV and AIDS's purpose is to give hope to people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS including TB, in Kenya, advocate for thr rights of PLHIV and minority groups living with HIV and AIDS.NEPHAK recognises the important contribution PLHIV can make in the response of the HIV/AIDS and TB epidemic and adheres to the 1994 principle of Greater and meaningful involvement of people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS-GIPA.Designed from the grassroot comprising of men and women in touch with and actually responding to the reality of the impact of HIV and AIDS on individual families and communities,NEPHAK has representatives from all the regions in the country elected bianually at a national deligates conference.NEPHAK advocates for access to comprehensive care, treatment and support for PLHIV and the affected communities in the universal access for all.In working around universal access and human rights for people living with HIV and AIDS,NEPHAK fosters partnerships to expand the targets of advocacy campaign.NEPHAK also fosters partnership to promote the human rights of vulnerable population including PLHIV to ensure that the consequensesof HIV criminalization in the response to the epidemic is understood by all, the partnership all ensures that the needs and health of children infected with HIV (including infants) are taken in both policy abd practice.Confronting HIV related stigma and discrimination among people, families and communities infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and TB, advancing sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of people living HIV and AIDS particularly women and young persons infected by HIV and AIDS.Enhancing communication and advocacy for increased TB/HIV collaboration and promoting the good intergration of practices reccommended by World Health Organization are some of the reason/purpose of NEPHAK.
