Organizational structure: AOAV counts with a head office in London that is divided into the following departments: field programs, policy and research, administration and finances. AOAV also hosts the staff of the Cluster Munition Coalition in the same office. A board of Directors is in charge of overlooking the strategy of the organization as well as its financial and structural capacity. In addition to the Head office, AOAV also counts with two field programs in Liberia and Western Sahara that work on de-mining and training and reintegration of ex-combattants. The head-office decides the broad lines of work and the policy focus which is then implemented locally by the field programs. Finally AOAV collaborates with a Latin American working group on armed violence and development that was recently created to focus on advocacy and research work on this topic in the region.
Number and type of members: AOAV employs UK-based permanent staff and consultants, international technical advisers and national staff in Liberia and Western Sahara. In total AOAV employs 16 permanent international staff and 56 national staff for the field program in Western Sahara as well as 76 for the field program in Liberia.
