Mission statement:	Established in 2004 and registered as a not-for-profit organisation, IAP is a research and advocacy NGO that works to promote open and transparent government in Nigeria, where individuals and groups have the opportunity to contribute to the decision making process, thereby contributing to efforts aimed at eliminating or reducing corruption and opaqueness. IAP promotes - through advocacy, coalition building, research, publications and information sharing - respect for good governance in Nigeria. The organisation works to strengthen democratic structures impacting on corruption and governance and conducts relevant studies and surveys, including devising useful tools which are fed into its campaigns and advocacy programme. IAP brings individuals, groups and organisations together within and outside Nigeria, building partnerships and sharing information on ways to promote participation, accountability and effectiveness at all levels. IAP actualises its mission through research and surveys into issues germane to democracy, sustainable development and good governance in Nigeria, publication and dissemination of governance-related information and employing the findings of such studies as advocacy tools.

Organizational structure:	IAP is governed by a non executive Board of Directors, which is being advised and supported by an Advisory Council. The day to day administration of the organisation is overseen by a Management Committee headed by the Executive Director. The organisation has full time and part staff in addition to specialist consultants and other associates and volunteers, including lawyers, journalists, researchers and academics. IAP also has three Committee of Volunteers (CVs) headed by experienced professionals. The board sets the general direction of the organisation each year, and the advisory board provides specialist advice while the management team implements the programmes of IAP.
