Mission statement:	Promotion of justice and social cohesion. “Promoting a higher standard of living and justice for all” PURPOSE STATEMENT: HAI is a registered Non Profit Organisation with the aim of providing better living standards to all South Africans earning below the threshold and living in both rural and informal settlements. The responsibility to ensure that all people have access to adequate standards of living, security and have access to a better care facilities does not rest only on Government but on all of us, including business and community. Housing Africa Initiative is founded upon the notion of The Freedom Charter of 1955: “All people shall have the right to live where they choose, be decently housed, and bring up their families in comfort and security; Slums be demolished, and new suburbs be built where all have transport, roads, lighting, playing fields, crèches and social centres.” Firstly, HAI aims to uplift the standard of living in communities, rural and informal settlements by providing access to facilities for social coherence and justice. This will be done addressing issues impacting communities such as HIV/AIDS, Moral Regeneration, and Abuse of the elderly, Women and Youth Development, and Entrepreneurship. The second process will be to initiate building processes of community facilities through partnerships and participation of NGOs, community, businesses and government. HAI aims to involve the community in projects that affect them, giving them the power to initiate their own change and drive their own development. Community Dialogues are an essential component to bridging the gap, fostering understanding and acceptance on issues on the national agenda to motivate and speed service delivery. The involvement of the community as key stakeholders in issues concerning then is of high priority for HAI. Community members will form part of the Steering Committee for all projects co-ordinated by HAI to ensure that relevant needs are identified and project objectives are met.

Organizational structure:	The organisation is administered and managed by the Board of Trustees which manage and distribute finances and internally audits the organisation. The trustees are from different backgrounds including business, finance, human resources, and socio development. Projects are approved by the Board of Trustees, and it also allocates funds towards the project approved. Mr Russel Thembekwayo is the Founder and Director of the organisation. Ms Lindiwe Florence Sibande is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees comprises of: Mr Brian Mngadi; Ms Ndimakazi Sinama; Mr Karabo Sebetlela; Ms Maria Mfolo; Mr Itumeleng Mzimba and Mr Cecil Maphoto. The Executive Director reports to the trustees, the director must appoint a management team for operational purposes.
