CarbonSink Development Initiatives (CSDI) is an indigenous Non Governmental Organization that specialises in forest carbon sequestration and avoidance of deforestation projects, as a means of improving the living conditions of the local communities through project direct and indirect economic benefits and carbon service revenues.
We develop Forest Carbon project from the inception to the final stage of Issuance of the Voluntary Carbon Units (VCU) or the Certified Emissions Reduction (CER). we work closely with the local communities, the government and other key stakholders to identify suitable projects, carryout preliminary assessment of project viability to the required carbon standards, initiate the feasibility studies, prepare Project Idea Note (PIN), National approval process by the Designated National Authority (DNA), prepare the Project Design Documents (PDD) and facilitate the Monitoring, Reporting, Validation and Certification of the project.
The Carbon service revenue funds are channeled back to the sustainable community development. Depending on the community need, the funds are used to provide fuel efficiency stoves in replacement for the pressure on forest for wood as source of energy, building of community health centers, building of Carbon schools, training in organic farming, bee keeping etc. |
